September Selection

We Were LiarsGreat choice, everyone! This book was so good that it gave me chills. If you haven’t read it yet, there’s still time before the discussion begins. You’ll be glad you did! Here’s a summary from the inside cover:

“A beautiful and distinguished family.
A private island.
A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy.
A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive.
A revolution. An accident. A secret.
Lies upon lies.
True love.
The truth.

We Were Liars is a modern, sophisticated suspense novel from New York Times bestselling author, National Book Award finalist, and Printz Award honoree E. Lockhart.
Read it.
And if anyone asks you how it ends, just LIE.”

This thrilling, suspenseful novel was one that I couldn’t put down until the end (and I did so slowly, with a look of total shock on my face). Then, I read it again.  Here are some reactions:

John Green says: “Thrilling, beautiful, and blisteringly smart, We Were Liars is utterly unforgettable.”

Kirkus calls We Were Liars “Riveting, brutal and beautifully told.”

Shelf Awareness gives it a starred review: “This is a love story as much as it is a psychological mystery…Astonishing.”

Sonia Charaipotra (Parade): “A rich, stunning summer mystery with a sharp twist that will leave you dying to talk about the book with a pal or ten.”

I can’t wait to hear what you thought about this book. On September 1, we’ll start the discussion!

Everybody was talking about this book. The ending was sad (I know I’m supposed to lie about the ending but this is the only thing I’m saying about the ending) . I think I would have to read this book again to understand all the little details. I would like to read more books by Lockhart.
